What a day. After a swift and jubilant flight to Chicago we found ourselves with a 4 hour delay. We did a little terminal surfing, Starbucks slurping, card playing, aeronautic cuisine tasting, and generally did basically everything terminals 1 and 2 had to offer at O’Hare International.
But we made it, got our beautiful vans, and drove to our Birmingham home, The Hargis Retreat Center. We sang, we dialogued about why we have come, and read from Eric Holder’s analysis of our countries racial challenges. Then we packed everyone off to bed…we hope…Spirits are high, generosity is aplenty. We are ready.

Hilltop Invites you to Our High School/Alumni Night October 13th, 7-8:30pm
Hilltop Montessori Middle School graduates who are currently in their sophomore, junior and senior years will be here to share their experiences. How HMS prepared them for high school, the transition to new schedules and environments, to name a few. Public and private schools will be represented.
We will have openings next fall in the 7th grade as we graduate a class of 17 eighth graders in 2017! So spread the word, this event is not only for current families but prospective families and students as well. We look forward to hearing your questions and the responses from our alumni currently in local public and private high schools.
Whether you are a current parent or prospective parent thinking about high school or Hilltop’s Middle School, this is a wonderful evening to hear directly from our graduates about the Hilltop Montessori School experience. Or maybe you are wondering what is ahead for your young child, so please read on!!
“What happens next?” This is a question asked by most prospective parents when they first visit our school. The answer is valuable to our enrolled parents as well. How prepared are Hilltop students – academically and socially – when they graduate?
Who better to answer this question than our graduates themselves. So please join us for Alumni Night as our thoughtful, former students reveal the ways the gifts of their Montessori education have uniquely prepared them for success in all areas of their young adult lives.
Let’s celebrate the start of school with one last splash in the pool! The party is being held at Green Mountain Camp in Dummerston from 4:30 until 7. Jay and friends will be on hand to play world music, we’ll have the grill going and all you need to do is bring your swimmies and something to share. Toddler and Children’s House Families: Sides/Salads; Lower and Upper El Families: Desserts; and Middle School Families: drinks.
